Essential info
Hello! We are looking forward to welcoming you to Canning soon! Here’s some information we have put together for you, to help you prepare or reassure you.
The training
Training hours are 0900-1630 (unless we have made any other arrangements with you).
The training will be about you. So bring any presentations or other work scenarios you’d like to practise. The other training material will be provided by us.
At Canning
The atmosphere at Canning is informal. So wear the clothes you feel most comfortable in.
We have a lovely lounge (and garden when it’s sunny…). You can help yourself to coffee, tea and water any time. For lunch, you’ll go with your trainer to local cafés/pubs/restaurants. Or you might decide to just bring something back to our training centre. Quick word of warning - meal costs are not included in the training fee.
There’s one rule we have at Canning: English only from the moment you arrive! Any practice you can get before you come here will be helpful too. Try listening to the radio, reading English newspapers, or, better still, speaking English.
London
We are right in the centre of London. Most of us travel around by tube (London’s underground). The closest tube stations are Tottenham Court road (5 min walk), Russell Square (10 min walk) and Holborn (10 min walk). You can use the TFL journey planner to plan your route. You need a contactless payment card/mobile device/an Oyster card (London travel card) to use tubes and buses. You can buy an Oyster card at most underground stations and some newsagents. You can purchase a ticket for a week or more, or buy credit to use as ‘pay as you go’.
You might already exactly know what you’d like to do in the evenings. If not, we can suggest some things to do. Or perhaps you and the other participants would like to do some joint evening adventures with us in London.
